After serving at the orphanage all day we went back to were we were staying and everyone took a shower, cleaned up, and headed down to El Malecon, which is something like the downtown area of San Felipe. We had dinner at one of the restaurants owned by a Christian family that the Sonshine team knows. The day before Tranica, Jennifer and I had gotten posicles and now the whole team wanted to try them.  These are real fruit popsicles and they are simply indescribable, you bite them and they melt in your mouth and they have pieces of fruit in them, just delicious.

Naomi shared a devotional while we all sat in the beach and listened and after a short prayer time we headed back to rest. It was a wonderful day!

Serving at Sonshine Hacienda on our first day of serving there was a blast, we divided into three team and knocked out the different projects they had for us. Team 1 was Caleb and Jennifer, their job was to move the tool shed/trailer out into the back lot, which meant they had to take all the tools out of the shed, put tired on the trailer, pull the trailer into the back lot and then put the tools back in place. It was the only outdoors job and they both kindly volunteered to do it; and they did and awesome job. Team 2 was Naomi, Marissa and Tranica. They had to sort through bags and bags and bags and bags of sheets, towels and clothes and sort them. There were so many clothes and things, they were awesome! Team 3 was Erin, Beca and I, we were painting, Erin and I were painting the bathroom doors and Beca was retouching the walls. The paint going on the doors was oil based and somehow we ended up having paint all over (Erin more than i since a door closed on her and it was hysterical), we had to buy acetone to remove it.

By the end of the day we had done a lot of progress and even thought we had woken up incredibly early we still had so much energy to keep going it was crazy.

Meet Robert & Debbie Jensen, and Paul Korneliussen (his wife Donna was waiting for us at Sonshine). They are administrators of Sonshine Hacienda and they are wonderful people. The Jensens are from Canada above Montana, and the Korneliussens are from Washington state; hence Paul's awesome cap.

Our first morning in San Felipe the Sonshine Team invited us to climb a small mount and do a devotional with them as we prayed for the city and enjoyed the sunrise. We woke up at 445am to head there and made it with plenty of time to see the sun go up. It was beautiful and it allowed for us to meditate on God's goodness and His beauty. Praying for the city before starting our work was incredible, it didn't even matter that we were up before the sun was out.

When we arrived to San Felipe we had lunch and then we headed to see the Orphanage. Isn't it beautiful? they truly have done an outstanding job there, everything is done with such excellence, we were amazed and challenged as well to do everything with the same passion and love the team down there showed. We also went downtown and had popsicles and bought a $5 hat to protect us from the sun. Day one was a success.

We spent the week in San Felipe, with the Marketplace Missions team helping in different projects as they get ready to open an orphanage down there at the end of the summer. The ride down was smooth and beautiful. Driving in the middle of the dessert from Ensensada to San Felipe we ran into a fruit vendor and we all had a bag of fruit and bought a watermelon. The guy was selling coconut and I haven't had any in years, most Americans with me had never tried it so I was excited to have them try it, they hated it; more coconut for me!!

More pictures and stories of what an amazing trip it was to come.

Our friend Erin gave us a gift card to Chili's so we decided to have dinner out and enjoy all that Chili's has to offer. It is always so fun to sit at a table with K and talk and laugh and eat from his plate because I regret my order and want his food! Thank you Erin!!
