Community Group

As you may or may not know from our 2011 plans, K and I started a community group for married and engaged couples at church. The Community Group has been going great and we are really enjoying sharing with the couples and hearing from them. Duing our Connection Weekend 6 couples signed up and we were beyond stoked.

Three weeks have gone by since we started the community group and we've had 10 couples join, some have missed a week but in general it's been great to see people come and share. Every week we've seen growth and we have had a chance to really get to know some of the couples that have been coming to the group, it's wonderful being able to share your life with others and knowing that you have a support system in place that prays for you and keeps you accountable. 

Every week we share a chapter of the book After you say I do by H. Norman Wright, we discuss some of the things in the book and let the couples answer the questions in the book in a discussion and then expand on them at home with their spouse/fiancee. We also have a weekly love challenge which has sparked great conversation between couples, inside marriages and with the entire group. And obviously we always have munchies because where there is food people are happy!

We feel truly blessed people have had a chance to join us in this journey and we are excited for what is to come.

Johnny and Maria are a wonderful couple that has been going to Urban for quite a while. Their whole entire family is amazing, I love them all and I am so blessed to get to sere alongside them.

Well they decided to throw a formal dinner for the single people of our church last Saturday and asked me to be one of the servers, being married an all it was the only way I'd be able to come. I accepted gladly and I had a wonderful time serving the single people of our church and making them feel appreciated and special.

K was working so he couldn't make it, but he loved the pictures and the good news is that it was his last day at his job; we are officially working together now!

Valentine's Day Part II

After the beach and bike ride Caleb took me to the movies to see Gnomeo & Juliet; he thought it would be fitting since it is a love story and it's cute because it has gnomes and all of that good stuff. We saw it on 3D and it was wonderful spending time at the theater with my love I must admit we didn't really like the movie; but it was nice to cuddle and talk throughout the entire movie since we were alone at the theater.

After the movie we went home and cooked with Kris and Erin; we had heart shaped pasta with chicken in vodka sauce, sauteed green beans, sour dough bread and sparkling cider. It was nice to spend time with people we love after having a relaxing day together.

Valentine's day was beyond wonderful, I am so blessed and spoiled by God; he really loves me!

Valentine's Day Part I

My husband surprised me in the morning with french toast in bed; he did it last year too when we celebrated by going to the circus.

He said he found a red envelope and wrote in red ink because everything's gotta be red on Valentine's day; inside the coolest and most amazing poem ever... he's so cute!

After breakfast we got ready to go to Pacific Beach and ride around in our bikes. It was such a wonderful day to be at the beach; the weather was perfect, 70F and sunny, and since it was Monday there was barely anybody there, husband was able to ride right next to me and chat with me the whole way to Mission Beach and back

I love spending time with K and I love Valentine's days that are special and creative and different. It was such a relaxing morning and afternoon, I cound't have asked for anything better.

Where I spent my week

The picture is a bit blurry but I am sure you all can read where I was... SCHOOL!! I just recently went back to school to work on my masters degree and I decided on PLNU and their school of theology and Christian ministry.

I love being back in school and learning so much about God and His church. I have been learning about preaching and I have been amazed at the Word of God and how beautiful and rich and grand it is. 

Reading it knowing that I am called to share it with others, gives the Scriptures a completely new meaning; allows for me to fall in love with them under a brand new light. They are to be devoured; almost literally, so that we can become what they say we are and so that others can come to realize who they are through them.  

In the practical side of things I love learning about what it takes to be a good preacher in 2011. I love putting 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 into context and seeing how I am to become all things to all people for the sake of the gospel. And how I will be more effective of a communicator of the gospel if I allow for the Love of Christ to flow through me. 

I am really excited to see how God will use all of this information I am learning and how I will make sure I retain everything.

Meet Steve, Joan and Alycia (yes I know Steve is not in the picture, couldn't find one of him). I lived with them for 2 years in Las Vegas and they became my family. They are the most generous people I have ever met and their love for God and people is overwhelming.

My sister Alicya turned 11 today so Caleb and I made a video and sent it to her since I was going to be in school until late.

My Christmas gift!

Caleb bought online a wonderful watch for Christmas for me; and since we were going to be at the Bellagio in Vegas for that time he had it sent there. Since the rooms were under his Mom's name he sent it under that name.

Well turns out it never made it there so we left Las Vegas and my watch was nowehre to be seen. Caleb called everybody talked to everybody and finally we found out the watch made it to the Bellagio a couple days after we left. The Bellagio was kind enough to send it to the owner who to them was my mother in law; so she got my Christmas gift half way through January as I was in Colombia.

Last week she mailed it to me and I finally received it just a month and a couple weeks later!!
