Hello chocolate bread, I love you!

Remember Jennifer? Well she told me that at Con Pane they sold chocolate bread on the weekends. I had been there before, Husband and I found the place on accident and fell in love with the amazing sandwiches and bread they make, but we did not know about the secret -weekend only- chocolate bread.
We had to go check it out, so we headed toward liberty station and chocolate bread we ordered. At .75 cents per roll, the brown awesome goodies promise to become a Luehmann favorite.

If you are in San Diego head over there NOW!

One of my favorite things to do in San Diego; walk around the many Farmer's Markets the city has to offer. This time around included crepes, a great chat with a new girlfriend and free flowers; we'll see what next week holds.

A few weeks ago Kyeoungsuk (she says we can call her Christy) and Hyemin (in Korean 이혜민) joined us at Urban Church, they happen to live right across the street. I had a chance to chat with them for a bit and they told me they've been in America for 3 months learning English. They are from Seoul and they are probably the most happy people I've ever met, they just make you smile with their optimism and great spirit.

We saw them at Community Group a few days after meeting them and they said they wanted to eat burgers, like McDonalds burgers, and right then and there we decided on lunch after church on Sunday at In-N-Out

Needless to say they loved the burgers, and we really enjoyed talking to them and getting to know more about their culture.

After dropping them off at their place Hyemin put on her facebook: In-and-out!!!! Healthy and very delicious food!!!!!! Thanks to my lovely friends for inviting me and Christy!!! They are nice couple! I love them :) and I thank God for my meeting them and the church! :)

It put a big smile on our faces, they are wonderful girls and the next time we meet with them they promised to cook Korean food for us so we are excited to try the real deal.

Our friend Jonathan met this awesome girl Kristi. They went on a date, talked, got to know each other, went on more dates; and realized they were made for each other. Well lucky Jonathan, Kristi has two adorable children; Nathan and Jericho, and Jonathan gets to hang out with them and love on them and be a part of their life, he gets to see them grow and help them become outstanding men of God. Jonathan proposed to Kristi last week, we were beyond thrilled to know Kristi said yes and the kids, like us, were really excited too.

The day after the proposal Jericho had a birthday party and we came to sing Happy Birthday to the little guy and to see the beautiful ring Kristi gets to wear from now on.  We had such a great time meeting Kristi's family and hanging out with the kids; Jonathan got blessed no doubt.

I had the camera the whole time so no pictures of me were taken with it, so when we were walking home Caleb asked to take a picture so we could remember I was there too. Here I am.

My new friend Jennifer Lund celebrated her birthday last week and decided to have a St. Patty/Birthday party. I didn't get a chance to swing by my house before coming over so I didn't have my camera but she had a photo booth set up and I was in a couple pictures.

The party was a wonderful time; we played games, talked, ate outstanding food and I got to meet all these awesome people that live in the beautiful Coronado Island and have a cool life. It was such a refreshing and enjoyable time, she's throwing a 5 de Mayo party and I've been promised an invite, I cannot wait!

Ps. I love my hair!

Please get over my silly face in the picture above and be happy about the fact that my wonderful hair is now root-less! The superb Rachel from Robert Cromeans does such an amazing job with my hair, she's hands down the best stylist I have ever had (and she's so sweet, she hooks me up every time I go, I love her).

Not only did I enjoy my time at the salon, I can't stop staring at the splendid job she did with my hair, I feel gorgeous thanks to Rachel and K who keeps telling me I always look amazing (I love that white man).

If you are in San Diego you have to make an appointment at ARCS, they have amazing customer service, a beautiful location and experienced stylist that make you feel like a million bucks; Rachel being my favorite.

Every time I go to Palm Springs I end up trying a new product from pool momma's bathroom. This time I had a chance to try two:

I didn't bring anything to clean my face, so after washing it I tried Laura Mercier Skincare Face Polish, it was phenomenal; it left my skin feeling soft and clean and it doesn't irritate it either.

I also didn't bring anything for my hair, so I opened the cabinet and saw Sebastian Light Texturizing Gel, I just had to put some product in to try to tame my crazy frizz; and what do you know, it worked wonders.

Photobucket

That's how my hair looked after just letting it air dry; I didn't do anything to it but put a tiny bit of the Sebastian gel and then I went outside. I think the dry Palm Springs weather helps quite a bit, but still I had to mention the product.

It would be so nice if I didn't have to do my hair in San Diego, it would save me a lot of time in the mornings and I would be more excited about washing it all together; oh well there is a price to pay for living in America's finest city, right?

While in Palm Springs we went for a couple walks with Pool Momma, we walked for two miles around the area and she asked us to wear Safety Bugs, which we loved! On our way back we found a grapefruit tree and took a couple grapefruits and a few minutes later we found a mandarin tree and we certainly grabbed a couple of those too. It's really nice to walk at night, after dinner in 75 degree weather, we have decided to start walking after dinner at San Diego more often.

Pool momma has been cooking awesome food, the baked petrale sole was amazing and then the following night we had steak with veggies.

Here are a couple recipes for the veggies

Roasted Brussels Sprouts (Serves 2+)
  • 1/2 Pound Brussels sprouts, washed and trimmed
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 400 degrees

In large bowl, combine ingredients until Brussels sprouts are well coated. Place vegetables on baking sheet, and place on center rack in the oven. Roast for approximately 35 minutes, turning every 6 minutes, until Brussels sprouts are dark brown and tender. Take them out and serve.

Baked Parmesan Tomatoes (Serves 4)
  • 4 tomatoes, halved horizontally
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Freshly ground pepper, to taste
  • 4 teaspoons olive oil
Preheat oven to 450° F.
Place tomatoes cut-side up on a baking sheet. Top with Parmesan, oregano, salt and pepper. Drizzle with oil and bake until the tomatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.

The tomato recipe is not how she made the tomatoes in the picture but it's a good recipe. The pictured tomatoes were boiled for a few minutes and then Parmesan was sprinkled over them. Either way tomatoes are awesome!

After celebrating with Grandma and having lunch with her for her birthday we went to bingo with her. She made sure to share with everyone there that my jeans were ripped and we actually paid for them!! all of her friends were as shocked as was grandma.

K won once, grandma and I didn't win but we had a good time and we laughed listening to the interesting conversations everybody has at bingo. Senior citizens are awesome, they don't waver when they have something to say, their honesty is just splendid.
