Riding our bikes to work this week has been so nice, the weather has been perfect in San Diego and we love riding together. I have started to wear open toe shoes when I ride my bike but K is still very uncomfortable with that idea. We'll see how I do.

3 years ago when Kung Fu panda came out Caleb and I were friends, he liked me, a lot, even though he hadn't really said that to me; I was trying to decipher why my heart was moving faster when he was around even though I hadn't said that to him. He asked me out to the movies for the second time (since the first time he asked I showed up with a whole bunch of people) and I accepted. Kung Fu Panda it was, at the movie theaters on Easter and Pebble, in Henderson Nevada.

I was a few minutes early, as I usually am; and he was a few minutes late, as he usually is. I waited in front of the theater reading a book and he showed up apologizing for he lived on the other side of town, I made a smart remark and inside we went.

It was July in the desert, it was really warm outside and really cold in the theater; I made a comment about being cold and my lovely husband, whom I barely knew at the time, asked if I wanted my legs rubbed and started laughing, then apologized. Silly boy. The movie started and we talked through the whole thing, at one point I asked who tigress was to which K reply she was a tiger. To this day he insists I asked what tigress was. Regardless, we laughed at my question/his answer, annoyed everyone else in the theater, and for once in my life I didn't care, I just wanted to enjoy my time with Mr. Luehmann.

When the movie was over K asked if I was hungry, I lied said I was ok and then said good bye, only to go home to eat. It was the first time we spent time alone, the first of many, many, many, many dates and it is how Kung Fun became part of my favorite story, my love story.

So Kung Fu Panda 2 coming out around the time of our second wedding anniversary was a mandatory date night. Legs uncovered, so they could be rubbed, I went with my husband to the theater on Frazee and Hazard Center in San Diego, California. I went to see the tigress who was a tiger and one more time annoy the people in the theater with our laughter and conversation, and reminiscence about those days when I would lie about being hungry in an effort to be prudent and act against what my heart desired.

These last 3 years have been the best book ever written and I love being one of the main characters with a handsome man whose love for God and for me is a constant inspiration.

As you all know K and I have been serving at Urban Church full time for 5 months now. It has been an exciting journey and we've learned so much about marriage, ministry and God, we feel truly blessed we have been able to do work together in ministry.

After my husband, my sister is my favorite person in the whole wide world; she has been my confidant, best friend, and partner in crime my whole entire life. When we are together our bellies are in constant pain from the unstoppable laughter. She is the only person who can read my thoughts and understand my feelings even when unspoken.

Today she turns 26 and I wish I was around to celebrate with her, she's such an outstanding woman of God. I admire her courage and ability to stand up for what is right, I admire her love for people and how balanced her approach to life is; she knows how much to give and how to protect her heart, I admire her intelligence and tick skin, I almost envy her strength and I am constantly in awe of her great wisdom. I really really love my sister, when I think of her my heart fills up with joy and a hint of sadness since she is so far away and I don't get to see her more often.

I wish for this year to be one of amazing adventures, a year in which the Lord takes her places she never dreamed of being, and where He even takes her to a few that have filled her desires for a while now. I want it to be a year full of love and discovery and growth, I pray this year she finds herself swimming in an abundance of favor and blessing, and I pray her love for God will grow daily and she will look at Him every morning with enamored eyes and a willing heart.

I love you Maff, I am sorry I am not there to celebrate with you, I thank God every day because Mom and Dad had you and I got to spend my first 24 years of life sitting next to you at the breakfast table; you are the best little sister anyone could have asked for and God was far too generous with me when He decided I got to call you my partner in crime for life. Happy Birthday!

After looking at the world through the window for 4 days we decided to venture out and take a walk to the bank to deposit some checks we had gotten in the mail. It was nice to feel the breeze on our skin, walk around holding hands and smell all the flowers that have been coming out in San Diego. Being sick is no fun, let me tell you, however the first day after you've been sick for a while is so nice because everything just looks that much brighter.

We love the view we get from our house, specially when we are sick and can't leave the house without shivering so badly we look like we are having a seizure.

After we got back from Mexico, Mexico tried to kill us. We got so incredibly sick we both felt we had never been that sick before. Husband looks peaceful in that picture but in reality I think he was delirious with his 103 fever. For 4 days all our stomachs could handle was vitamin water and saltines and we were drinking pepto like it was liquid candy (which to K it actually is, he loves the thing and I truly believe he would have od'ed on it would I not have been there to keep an eye on how much he was drinking).

Thankfully we were able to stay home and rest for those 4 days and we had people all over praying for us. My K slept in the floor the first night and I joined him around 3am, next time in San Felipe we will not eat salads and we will be absolutely intense with the hand sanitizer.

For our last devotional in San Felipe we went to the beach, the water in San Felipe is so warm and beautiful, we'll have to plan for an afternoon at the beach when we go back. Jennifer shared a great devotional with the rest of us and we prayed for a while. After we went to the church were Pastor Gary and Karen minister and we loved it, it such a beautiful church and it was exciting to hear wonderful stories of what the Lord is doing in their midst. By 930am we were on the road back to San Diego.

San Felipe was an amazing trip, I really cannot wait for our next visit in October.

And here the team:

Two years ago my last name changed and I started a journey of oneness with a man with whom I fit perfectly. I hear people talk about how ridiculous and preposterous the idea of the one is, and in silence I am filled with gratefulness for I met my one, I smile knowing that I can't deny my husband is perfect for me in all his imperfection.

It's only been two years and day after day we recognize there is still much to learn; day after day we recognize we can't honor the amazing gift the Lord has given us by bringing us together, apart from Him; day after day we strive to honor God with our marriage; and day after day we are reminded that we were brought together to give God glory; the company, love and the indescribable ecstasy we get from being with one another is just a marvelous consequence of obeying His call to marriage and beyond that to a marriage devoted to Him.

I cannot express how blessed and honored I feel the Lord chose me to be K's helpmate and companion for the rest of his life. These two years have been the most outstanding gift and they are but a small portion of a life walked next to the one who calls me bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh.

I love you husband; two years ago I became yours and I will forever be.

For the month of June at Urban the series is "Man Up" a look at men in the Bible and their role. For the sermon opener we are making videos with man rules and Caleb starred in the first one, and being the goof ball he is he decided to take things to a new level by feeding a dog. Watch the video and you'll see what I am talking about.
