Once upon a time...

The pictures I promised... it was such a blast, it took us a good 45 minutes to snap out of it and get out of character.

When I was about 10 years old my Mom, my sister and I were in Orlando, FL for vacation and ran into one of those photography shops were you dress up as a cowboy from the old days and take pictures. Well it turns out my Mom can't find the pictures and has been mourning over them for ever. So my sister and I decided it would be nice to take pictures like those again as a gift for her. I knew there was a shop like that in Julian, CA so Sunday right after church we headed towards the teeny tiny town an hour and 20 minutes away from San diego, drove through some of the most beautiful mountains and took our pictures. I will upload a few soon, for now these are some of our trip there.

Wild Animal Park

I had never been to the Wild Animal Park but with my family here the trip was a must. I was pleasantly surprised, the park is absolutely gorgeous, and the animals are close and visible so you really get to see them. Also they have acres upon acres of space for all the animals, so that was wonderful to see. We had a great time, and K was able to join us for the second part of the day, that was the best!!

San Diego County Fair

Yesterday we have a few things to do in the morning so we woke up pretty early, did everything we had to do, my K left to go to work and me and my family found ourselves watching soccer games and the longest tennis match in history when we were done. Once Wimbledon officials decided the match had to continue at a later time because 10 hours playing tennis is simply ridiculous and it was too dark to play, we decided we had to do something (and by the way 10 hours. 163 games. No winner. is insanity and history right there).

One of our friends suggested the county fair, and we thought hey why not. Let me remind you we are Colombian, we don't have fairs down there. I went to a fair in Washington state last year, and it was in a small town, so I figured it'd be different. It was different, it was that fair times 5, it is huge!!

We had a great time, took forever getting back to our parking spot and got home exhausted after lots and lots of walking. Today is our second try at the Wild Animal Park.

Fun at the pool

We got in the pool last night for some pool charades. Boys against girls, I am sad to announce the boys won even after a very embarrassing reenactment of Sex and the City by the girls.

We are back in San Diego now, ready to enjoy my family's last week with us =/. Now off to bed, we have a game to watch at 7am and great plans at 8am.

Dancing at the mall

I lost my piercing a couple nights ago, it just fell off as I was washing my teeth, so we decided to stop by the mall and get me a new one, the only problem is that they were playing single ladies at Claire's so we all stopped what we were doing and gave the people at Claire's a little show. Dancing is just so much fun. We are loving our time in Palm Springs as you can tell by the last picture =D

Palm Springs

For Father's Day we drove to Palm Springs to celebrate with Poppa. It's hot in the desert but it's fun and so relaxing. It was so nice to celebrate Father's day with family, I missed my dad though, but I told him we'll have to plan a Father's day together soon. Hope you all enjoyed your family!

La Jolla

My family and I had great plans for our Saturday, we were going to the Wild Animal Park, have awesome sandwiches and enjoy the animals. But then that didn't work out, so we decided well let's go see Salvation Mountain, but I didn't remember the name and googled Mount Soledad, so we ended up in La Jolla. It was a great time even though it was an unplanned day.

I really do love having my family in town!

Culture shock

We took a long walk yesterday around downtown while we waited for the tires on my car to be changed. It was such a nice day, the walk was a great idea.

At night after K came home from our friend's Justin's stand up comedy performance (to be seen here soon!) we wanted to watch a movie. We have been trying to be extra quiet at home because our upstairs neighbor works pretty early and has asked us to be conscious of that fact past 9pm. We've done pretty well so far but last night for some odd reason the tv was on pretty loud, so when K turned it on we all jumped and started diving for all remotes and TV buttons but couldn't get to shut it off. After about 10 seconds that felt like 2 minutes we turned it off and all Colombians were dying laughing while my white handsome husband was just serious, mortified about what had happened. He's so cute, that picture is just an example of what we deal with on a daily basis having been raised in different countries... extra fun for the Luehmann's all the time!

The Beach

Monday we went to the beach, it was such a nice day. Maff and I tanned the traditional way while the boys played around with a football. Please remember Colombians play real football, otherwise known as soccer, so seeing them throw an American football was actually quite amusing. By the end of the day K had taught them and they were much better. Next time it'll have to be soccer.
